Sachet portal (सचेत पोर्टल)
Sachet is RBI's online portal for reporting unregistered or illegal financial entities, including fake loan apps and unlicensed lenders. It complements the Ombudsman — the Ombudsman handles disputes with regulated lenders, while Sachet targets entities that should not be lending at all.
Worked example
A loan app with no named RBI-regulated lender demands ₹599 as an "approval fee" before disbursal — a classic scam pattern. Do not pay; report the app name, screenshots and payment details on sachet.rbi.org.in, and also to the national cybercrime helpline 1930.
