NBFC (Non-Banking Financial Company) (गैर-बैंकिंग वित्तीय कंपनी (एनबीएफसी))
An NBFC is a company registered with RBI that can lend but cannot accept demand deposits the way a bank does. Most digital lending apps partner with RBI-registered NBFCs as the actual lender, and you can verify an NBFC's Certificate of Registration on the RBI website.
Worked example
Your KFS names the lender as an NBFC; search that exact company name in RBI's public NBFC list. If it is absent, or the app refuses to name its lender, do not borrow — and report the app on Sachet.
